Holger Hettwer has headed the annual conference WISSENSWERTE since 2012. Since its premiere in 2004, it has become the most important science journalism event in the German-speaking world: Around 500 participants come to the Forum for Science Journalism (www.wissenswerte-bremen.de) every November.
From 2008 to 2011, together with Franco Zotta, he headed the "Science Journalism Initiative" at TU Dortmund University. The joint project of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, and BASF SE - based at the TU's Chair of Science Journalism - aimed to strengthen independent, high-quality science reporting in Germany - with new continuing education programs and networking opportunities for science journalists.
